WuXi Biologics, Sinorda Partner on Bispecific Antibody for IBD

WuXi Biologics and Sinorda Biomedicine have entered into a strategic collaboration to advance the development and manufacturing of SND006, a novel bispecific antibody being developed for the potential treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other autoimmune disorders. The partnership brings together Sinorda’s proprietary biologics innovation with WuXi Biologics’ global-scale contract research, development, and manufacturing capabilities, aiming to accelerate SND006 toward clinical development.

Under the agreement, Sinorda Biomedicine will leverage WuXi Biologics’ integrated technology platforms and extensive expertise in biologics development to support key preclinical pharmacology studies and the manufacture of clinical trial material. This collaboration is expected to streamline preparation for Investigational New Drug applications, helping move SND006 more efficiently through the regulatory pathway.

SND006 is an independently developed bispecific antibody for which Sinorda Biomedicine retains worldwide rights. Bispecific antibodies are engineered to simultaneously target two different antigens or biological pathways, offering the potential for enhanced efficacy and more precise immune modulation compared with traditional monoclonal antibodies. Sinorda has already completed in vitro functional validation studies for SND006 and plans to submit IND applications to both China’s National Medical Products Administration and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2026.

Inflammatory bowel disease, which includes conditions such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic autoimmune disorder affecting millions of patients globally. Despite the availability of multiple biologic therapies, a significant proportion of patients do not achieve sustained remission or experience loss of response over time. As a result, there remains a strong demand for new treatment options with novel mechanisms of action that can address unmet medical needs across gastrointestinal and systemic autoimmune diseases.

WuXi Biologics said the collaboration reflects its growing focus on bispecific and multispecific antibodies, which have emerged as one of the company’s fastest-growing areas over the past decade. The CRDMO has supported hundreds of projects in this field, building deep technical know-how across discovery support, process development, and large-scale manufacturing.

Dr. Chris Chen, Chief Executive Officer of WuXi Biologics, said the company is pleased to support the advancement of SND006 through its end-to-end capabilities. He noted that WuXi Biologics aims to continue accelerating biologics discovery and development to help partners bring innovative therapies to patients worldwide in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.

Sinorda Biomedicine’s Chairman and General Manager, Dr. Pingsheng Hu, described SND006 as a potentially best-in-class bispecific antibody with the potential to deliver breakthroughs in gastrointestinal and autoimmune disease treatment. He highlighted WuXi Biologics’ strong track record in bispecific antibody development and manufacturing as a key factor in the collaboration.

Beyond SND006, the two companies plan to expand their partnership to include additional programs from Sinorda Biomedicine’s pipeline. These future projects could span the full value chain, from early molecule discovery through to clinical manufacturing, signaling a long-term strategic relationship focused on advancing innovative biologics for patients with autoimmune diseases.
