Pathos AI Partners with BMS and Tempus to Advance Alzheimer’s Drug Research

Pathos AI has announced strategic collaborations with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) and Tempus AI to use artificial intelligence (AI) to advance drug development for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions. The partnerships aim to improve understanding of disease progression, identify potential treatment targets and support better-designed clinical trials.

Announced on October 23, 2026, the collaborations bring together Pathos AI’s drug development platform, Tempus AI’s healthcare data capabilities and BMS’s expertise in neuroscience research and drug development.

Under the agreement, Tempus will build a large database containing de-identified, long-term health information from hundreds of thousands of patients with neurological conditions. The data will help researchers study how these diseases develop and change over time. Pathos will license the dataset from Tempus under a five-year agreement worth $55 million.

Pathos will use its AI platform, Pathos Foundry, to analyze the information, identify patterns and develop new ideas about the biology of neurological diseases. The platform is designed to help researchers test scientific theories, identify promising drug targets and improve clinical trial planning.

The companies will initially focus on Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological conditions, where developing effective treatments remains challenging. Alzheimer’s disease affects memory, thinking and daily activities, and researchers continue to investigate ways to slow its progression and improve outcomes for patients.

By combining large-scale patient data with AI-driven analysis and pharmaceutical research expertise, the companies aim to identify patient groups that may respond better to specific treatments. The approach could also help researchers design more targeted clinical trials and make informed decisions during drug development.

BMS will play a key role in applying the technology to neuroscience research. The pharmaceutical company will receive non-exclusive strategic access to Pathos Foundry across its broader research and development portfolio, along with three-year exclusive rights to use the platform for its neuroscience development programmes.

The collaboration builds on Pathos AI’s use of artificial intelligence in oncology drug development. The company uses its platform to assess drug candidates, guide research decisions and support clinical trial design. It now aims to apply this approach to neurological diseases, where complex disease biology and differences between patients can make drug development difficult.

The announcement also comes alongside Pathos AI’s $237 million Series E financing round, led by Bristol Myers Squibb. The funding will support the expansion of its AI platform and the development of its drug pipeline.

The partnerships highlight the growing role of artificial intelligence and patient data in pharmaceutical research. While the approach may help researchers make faster and more informed decisions, its impact on the development of effective treatments will need to be demonstrated through further research and clinical trials.
