Oura, LillyDirect Partner to Support GLP-1 Patients

ŌURA and LillyDirect have announced a new collaboration aimed at helping people using GLP-1 weight management medicines better manage their health through wearable technology and personalized digital support.

The partnership brings together Oura, the company behind the Oura Ring smart wearable, and LillyDirect, Eli Lilly and Company’s digital healthcare platform. Together, the companies plan to improve access to behavioral support tools that complement physician-prescribed GLP-1 therapies, which have become increasingly popular for treating obesity and related metabolic conditions.

As part of the collaboration, eligible customers using LillyDirect will receive a free Oura Ring sizing kit, making it easier to purchase and use the wearable device. The companies say the initiative is designed to encourage healthier daily habits by combining prescription treatment with continuous health monitoring and personalized insights.

The partnership reflects a growing trend in healthcare, where pharmaceutical companies and digital health providers are working together to support patients beyond medication alone. While GLP-1 therapies have demonstrated significant benefits in weight management, healthcare providers increasingly recognize that long-term success also depends on lifestyle factors such as sleep, physical activity, recovery, and overall health behaviors.

Jennifer Mazur, Senior Vice President of U.S. LillyDirect and Consumer Services at Eli Lilly and Company, said the collaboration is intended to provide support throughout a patient’s healthcare journey rather than focusing solely on prescribing medication. She noted that the goal is to build a broader care ecosystem that helps patients make healthy decisions in their everyday lives while following their prescribed treatment plans.

The Oura Ring continuously tracks a variety of health metrics, including sleep quality, daily activity, readiness, heart rate, and other physiological signals. These insights are delivered through the Oura mobile app, allowing users to monitor changes in their overall health and better understand how daily habits affect their well-being.

The collaboration follows the recent launch of GLP-1 Insights, a new feature within the Oura App specifically designed for people taking GLP-1 medications. The feature combines biometric data collected by the Oura Ring with medication-related information, providing users with a more personalized view of their progress throughout treatment.

According to Oura, more than half of its members identify as being overweight or living with obesity. The company also reports that tens of thousands of users are already tracking their GLP-1 therapy within the app, a figure expected to grow as these medications become more widely available worldwide. Industry projections suggest that global use of GLP-1 therapies could exceed 100 million people by 2030, increasing demand for tools that help patients stay engaged with their treatment plans.

Dr. Ricky Bloomfield, Chief Medical Officer at Oura, said the increasing adoption of GLP-1 medicines creates an opportunity to better support the daily behaviors that influence treatment outcomes. By combining real-time biometric monitoring with information tailored to GLP-1 users, he said patients can gain a more complete picture of their health beyond changes in body weight alone.

The companies emphasized that the collaboration is intended to complement, not replace, clinical care. By integrating wearable technology with prescribed treatment, they hope to help patients build sustainable habits that improve sleep, physical activity, recovery, and overall health while supporting long-term weight management goals.

The partnership highlights the growing convergence of pharmaceutical innovation and digital health technology, as companies increasingly seek to provide patients with connected care solutions that extend beyond medication and into everyday health management.
