Médunik Canada Takes Over Diacomit Promotion in Canada

Médunik Canada has entered into an exclusive promotional services agreement with Biocodex for Diacomit®, a treatment used for seizures associated with Dravet syndrome in Canada.

Under the agreement, Médunik Canada will immediately take exclusive responsibility for sales, marketing, and medical affairs activities for Diacomit® across the Canadian market. The partnership will use Médunik Canada’s rare disease expertise and infrastructure to improve engagement with pediatric neurologists, epileptologists, and specialized epilepsy centers.

Diacomit® is approved by Health Canada for use alongside clobazam and valproate as an adjunctive treatment for seizures linked to Dravet syndrome. The condition is a rare and severe form of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy that typically begins during infancy.

Dravet syndrome is a lifelong neurological disorder marked by frequent seizures that can be difficult to control with standard treatments. It can have a major impact on patients and their families and often requires care from specialized epilepsy teams.

Michael Gallo, Vice President of Regulatory & Medical Affairs at Duchesnay Pharmaceutical Group, said Médunik Canada plans to use its field teams to support specialists treating patients with Dravet syndrome across the country.

“Our focus is to maximize the therapeutic reach of this medicine while ensuring that clinical support and medical education are closer to the specialists who need them,” Gallo said.

The agreement is also intended to strengthen medical and commercial support while maintaining continuity in Diacomit®’s supply chain and access infrastructure. Médunik Canada and Biocodex said they will work to ensure eligible patients across Canada continue to have access to the treatment.

The companies also plan to expand educational outreach for healthcare professionals and the wider Canadian epilepsy community. Through Médunik Canada’s specialized rare disease network, the partners aim to provide greater support to healthcare teams managing this complex condition.
